Pumpkin Seeds

Pumpkin Seeds (Kernels): Concentrated source of many health-benefiting vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, and essential amino-acids.

Nutrients:

  • Tryptophan- (A) naturally aides in healthy sleep

  • Glutamate- (A)anti-stress neurochemical in the brain, helps reducing anxiety, nervous irritability, and other neurological conditions

  • B-complex (v), niacin which helps lower LDL cholesterol

  • thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, pantothenic acid, vitamin B-6 (pyridoxine) and folates (v)

  • Copper, manganese, potassium, calcium, iron, magnesium, zinc and selenium (M)

Benefits:

  • High in fiber

  • 100 g seeds provide 30 g or 54% daily allowance of protein

  • Good source of anti-oxidant vitamin E which prevents tissue cells from the free radical oxidation injury (sometimes known as cancer)

  • Lowers LDL Cholesterol

  • Studies suggest pumpkin seeds have DHEA which block hormone receptor sites linked to prostate and ovarian cancers
